Most people are suffering when they have a full shift day of work. Because working under pressure may cause important psychological troubles, such, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and even burn out. Getting these troubles is really problematic because it decreases worker productivity. For this reason, it’s important to think about solutions that may help workers to feel better, besides psychological and financial motivation.

A lot of companies nowadays are using plants as an element of decoration to affect employers positively and help them to increase their productivity. Some are even creating green spaces next to their buildings so the worker can be in contact with nature.

Putting plants in the work office allows offering a good atmosphere and enhances its aesthetic dimension. It helps workers to feel less stressed and even reduce the noise which is one of the important roles of plants. Besides that, it helps to purify the air. Also, plants neutralize the waves of computer screens, which is a considerable advantage for workers that use computers a lot.

It’s even recommended to use the green color to paint a workspace since it’s very relaxing and refreshing and reminds us about nature. This is why it’s very used in work offices. It promotes concentration and learning and offers a calm atmosphere.

The common case is that we don’t have all our own space of work at home; this is why it’s a good idea to decorate the home office with plants or green decoration. Here some ideas that may help you to make your own office a green workplace.

Chose the appropriate wall to paint: The dark green color should be chosen for a wall in front of the window and vice versa, if the room is dark and the window doesn’t enter enough light, it’s recommended to use light green color in that case to bring more brightness.

Green wall: Your wall shouldn’t be painted with green color only but it can be a plant space. If it’s hard to find technics to make a real green wall, it’s okay to use an artificial one. The idea is to be in contact visually with green.

Chose the appropriate plant: in a work office we prefer non-polluting plants such as Cacti, Aloe vera, Sansevieria, Hawortia  or Ficus. These plants don’t need a lot of water or light, so it’s easy to take care of and don’t require regular maintenance.

Paint a small part of the wall: it’s not necessary to paint the whole wall with green color, in fact, interior designers use particular technics to make a simple and beautiful design. The idea is shown in the picture below.

In the end, it’s admitted that plants in the workspace have a positive impact on human well-being and make us feel more comfortable. So, it’s a good idea to use them as an element of decoration or to think green about our office design.

A lot of cities in the world nowadays are facing the same problem which is concreting of public spaces or areas. It's about covering these areas with concrete that gives a solid impermeable masse and also very reflective. That means, these areas don't allow water to pass through, so it may cause problems with urban flood and complicate its management. Besides that, since these areas are reflective, they reflect solar radiation during the sunny period and heat the urban climate. By consequence, this influences negatively human well-being and disturbs people when using public outdoor spaces or even prevents them to use them.

Concreting is also considered a human activity that doesn't respect the natural environment because of all its negative effects. This is why environmentalists are fighting against this phenomenon seen that, on the other side,  contractors and decision-makers find concreting more economical than creating, managing, and maintaining green spaces which require a huge budget. Unfortunately, they don't take into consideration the psychological effect of such spaces.

Green spaces regulate naturally the temperature inside cities and create a good fresh climate that invites people to go outside and enjoy the urban atmosphere. That means green spaces valorize the social dimension of public outdoor areas because they present a lieu of exchange, meeting, and relaxation for all. Besides that, green spaces contribute to improving the air quality by the production of oxygen.

A lot of recent studies prove that the lack of green spaces in the city causes a feeling of daily stress and anguish, while on contrary; these spaces help people to feel better. It's also proved that green spaces have a positive impact on human productivity; this is why a lot of companies managers are using and creating green spaces next to their buildings or inside to improve their employer's productivity.

Also, green spaces may present a place of proximity food when it's a public vegetable garden, this may help poor or needy people to find food resources. They can be even a place of environmental education with organizing companions for students and workshops in the open air so they can be in touch with nature from a very young and learn how to protect the natural environment.

Finally, green space's benefits in cities are many and deserve to be a subject of interest; hopefully, people can recognize their advantages and try to create more green spaces even on a private scale.
